Cerebral Perfusion Pressure Calculator
Calculates the pressure gradient that drives cerebral blood flow using mean arterial pressure and intracranial pressure.
Formula
CPP = MAP − ICP
Cerebral perfusion pressure
mmHg
Clinical interpretation
- 60–70 mmHg: recommended CPP target range in adults with severe traumatic brain injury.
- 60–80 mmHg: commonly cited adult reference range, although individual targets vary.
- Interpret the result alongside ICP trends, cerebral autoregulation, neurological findings, diagnosis, age, and local protocol.
What this calculator measures
CPP is a calculated pressure gradient, not a direct measurement of cerebral blood flow. MAP and ICP should be measured contemporaneously and referenced consistently.
Clinical-use notice: This tool supports calculation only and does not replace clinical judgment, specialist advice, or local neurocritical-care protocols. A low or rapidly changing CPP requires urgent clinical assessment.
