1. Purpose of MedCalcu
MedCalcu provides medical calculators, clinical scoring tools and related educational information. These tools may calculate scores, estimates, risk levels or other outputs based on the information entered by the user.
The calculators and information available on MedCalcu are provided for general informational, educational and clinical-support purposes only.
2. Not a Substitute for Professional Clinical Judgment
MedCalcu and its calculators are not intended to replace:
- The clinical judgment of a qualified healthcare professional;
- A complete medical assessment;
- A patient’s medical history and physical examination;
- Appropriate investigations, monitoring or specialist advice;
- Local clinical guidelines, protocols or policies; or
- Professional diagnosis, treatment or prescribing decisions.
Healthcare decisions must always be based on the individual circumstances of the patient and the independent judgment of an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Patients and members of the public should not use MedCalcu to diagnose or treat a medical condition without consulting a qualified healthcare professional.
3. No Guarantee of Accuracy
Although reasonable efforts may be made to provide accurate and useful calculators, MedCalcu does not guarantee that:
- Any calculator is complete, accurate, current or error-free;
- The formulas, calculations, scoring systems or interpretations are suitable for every patient or clinical situation;
- Information entered by a user will produce a clinically appropriate result;
- A calculator has been implemented without programming, mathematical, transcription or interpretation errors; or
- The information reflects the latest research, guidelines or clinical recommendations.
Errors may occur because of incorrect formulas, software problems, inaccurate source material, data-entry mistakes, differences between guidelines or other factors.
Users should independently verify important calculations, criteria, formulas, units, references and clinical interpretations before relying on them.
4. Responsibility of the User
You are solely responsible for deciding whether to use, disregard or independently verify any output generated by a MedCalcu calculator.
You are also responsible for:

- Selecting the correct units and calculator;
- Checking that the calculator is suitable for the relevant patient population;

5. Medical Emergencies
MedCalcu must not be used as the sole source of information during a medical emergency.

Do not delay urgent medical assessment or treatment because of information or calculator results provided by MedCalcu.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MedCalcu, its owners, operators, contributors, developers and associated parties will not be responsible or liable for any loss, injury, damage, deterioration in health, delayed treatment, incorrect treatment, missed diagnosis, adverse clinical outcome or death arising from or connected with:

- Reliance on a calculator result or interpretation;
- An incorrect, incomplete or outdated calculation;
- A programming, mathematical, transcription or technical error;
- Incorrect information entered by a user;
- Failure to seek appropriate professional advice;
- Failure to follow relevant clinical guidelines;
- The unavailability or malfunction of the website; or
- Any decision made on the basis of information provided by MedCalcu.
MedCalcu is not responsible for any harm that may be caused directly or indirectly by an output generated by any calculator available on the website.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
7. No Doctor–Patient Relationship
Use of MedCalcu does not create a doctor–patient, clinician–patient, professional-client, advisory or other healthcare relationship between the user and MedCalcu, its owners, authors, contributors or developers.
MedCalcu does not provide individual medical consultations, diagnoses, treatment plans or emergency medical services through its calculators.
8. Intended Users
MedCalcu is primarily intended to support healthcare professionals and health workers who have the knowledge and training necessary to understand the limitations of clinical calculators.
Where the website is accessed by patients or members of the public, all calculator outputs must be discussed with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before being used to make healthcare decisions.
9. References and Third-Party Clinical Tools
Some calculators may be based on published studies, clinical scoring systems, guidelines, equations or tools developed by third parties.
References may be provided for informational purposes. MedCalcu does not guarantee that every reference is complete, current or applicable to the user’s circumstances.
The inclusion of a calculator, publication, guideline, organisation or external link does not imply endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation unless expressly stated.
10. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the design, original text, software, layout, branding and other original content on MedCalcu are owned by or licensed to MedCalcu and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Third-party names, scoring systems, equations, publications, trademarks and copyrighted materials remain the property of their respective owners.
You may use MedCalcu for lawful personal, educational or professional purposes. You must not copy, reproduce, republish, sell, distribute, scrape or commercially exploit substantial portions of the website without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
11. Copyright Concerns
MedCalcu respects the intellectual property rights of others.
If you believe that any information, calculator, image, wording, formula or other material published on MedCalcu infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us immediately at:

- Your name and contact details;
- Identification of the copyrighted work or protected material;
- The URL or location of the allegedly conflicting material;
- An explanation of your ownership or authority to act for the rights holder; and

MedCalcu will review the complaint and aims to remove or appropriately amend confirmed conflicting information within 14 days of receiving a sufficiently detailed email.
This 14-day period is an internal response target and may be extended where further information, verification or legal advice is required.
12. Website Availability
MedCalcu may modify, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the website or any calculator at any time without prior notice.
We do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free from viruses, malicious code, technical problems or compatibility issues.
Users are responsible for maintaining appropriate security, antivirus protection and data-backup arrangements on their own devices.

We may also revise these Terms and Conditions. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Continued use of MedCalcu following an update means that you accept the revised Terms and Conditions.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary. The remaining provisions will continue to apply.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless another applicable law requires otherwise.
Any dispute relating to these Terms and Conditions or the use of MedCalcu will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
