About the APGAR Score

The APGAR score evaluates a newborn’s health at 1 and 5 minutes after birth. It assesses five components: Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration.

Interpretation

  • 7–10: Generally normal — good overall condition.
  • 4–6: Moderately low — may need assistance and monitoring.
  • 0–3: Critically low — requires immediate medical attention.
