ISTH DIC Score (International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation score) Calculator

ISTH DIC Score (International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation score) is a standardized diagnostic scoring system used to identify overt DIC in patients with conditions known to precipitate DIC (such as sepsis, trauma, malignancy, obstetric complications, and severe systemic inflammation).

DIC is a life-threatening acquired disorder characterized by widespread activation of coagulation, consumption of platelets and clotting factors, and variable bleeding and thrombosis. The ISTH scoring system helps translate routine laboratory tests into a numerical score reflecting the likelihood of overt DIC and correlates with disease severity and mortality risk.

Classic overt DIC score (ISTH) using platelets, fibrin markers, PT prolongation and fibrinogen.

Clinical use only. Apply this score only in patients with an underlying disorder known to be associated with DIC (e.g. sepsis, trauma, malignancy, obstetric complications). It does not replace clinical judgment, local guidelines or specialist advice and must not be used by patients for self-diagnosis.
Numeric value; scoring uses ISTH bands: >100, 50–100, <50 ×10⁹/L.
Categorise based on local assay reference ranges and reporting.
Difference between patient PT and lab upper limit of normal.
Clauss fibrinogen. ≤1.0 g/L scores 1 point in ISTH algorithm.
For your own reference only; not used in the calculation.
