What is the Glasgow/Imrie Score?
The Glasgow/Imrie Score, also known as the Glasgow Prognostic Score, is a clinical assessment tool used to predict the severity and prognosis of acute pancreatitis. It evaluates eight clinical and laboratory parameters within 48 hours of hospital admission.
Assessment Criteria
- Age >55 years
- White blood cell count >15,000/mm³
- Blood glucose >10 mmol/L (180 mg/dL)
- Serum urea >16 mmol/L (96 mg/dL)
- Arterial pOâ‚‚ <60 mmHg
- Serum calcium <2.0 mmol/L (8.0 mg/dL)
- Serum albumin <32 g/L
- LDH >600 units/L
Each parameter present contributes 1 point to the total score. A score of 3 or more indicates severe pancreatitis with increased risk of complications and mortality.
