Creatinine Clearance (Cockcroft-Gault Equation)

Calculates CrCl according to the Cockcroft-Gault equation.

Creatinine Clearance Calculator (Cockcroft-Gault)

Creatinine Clearance Calculator

This calculator estimates creatinine clearance using the Cockcroft-Gault equation.

Result will be displayed here

Interpretation of Results

The result is an estimate of the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) in milliliters per minute (mL/min). It helps assess kidney function.

StageGFR Level (mL/min/1.73m²)Kidney Function
1≥ 90Normal or high
260 – 89Mildly decreased
3a45 – 59Mildly to moderately decreased
3b30 – 44Moderately to severely decreased
415 – 29Severely decreased
5< 15Kidney failure

Note: The Cockcroft-Gault formula is an estimate and may not be accurate for all populations. The MDRD or CKD-EPI equations are often preferred in modern practice.

Formula Used

The Cockcroft-Gault equation is:

CrCl (mL/min) = [(140 – Age) × Weight (kg) × (0.85 if Female)] / [72 × Serum Creatinine (mg/dL)]

The calculator uses an adjusted body weight for individuals whose actual body weight is significantly greater than their ideal body weight.
