Calculates CrCl according to the Cockcroft-Gault equation.
Creatinine Clearance Calculator
This calculator estimates creatinine clearance using the Cockcroft-Gault equation.
Result will be displayed here
Interpretation of Results
The result is an estimate of the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) in milliliters per minute (mL/min). It helps assess kidney function.
| Stage | GFR Level (mL/min/1.73m²) | Kidney Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | ≥ 90 | Normal or high |
| 2 | 60 – 89 | Mildly decreased |
| 3a | 45 – 59 | Mildly to moderately decreased |
| 3b | 30 – 44 | Moderately to severely decreased |
| 4 | 15 – 29 | Severely decreased |
| 5 | < 15 | Kidney failure |
Note: The Cockcroft-Gault formula is an estimate and may not be accurate for all populations. The MDRD or CKD-EPI equations are often preferred in modern practice.
Formula Used
The Cockcroft-Gault equation is:
CrCl (mL/min) = [(140 – Age) × Weight (kg) × (0.85 if Female)] / [72 × Serum Creatinine (mg/dL)]
The calculator uses an adjusted body weight for individuals whose actual body weight is significantly greater than their ideal body weight.
