| 6-10 | High | 70-80% |
About the CRASH Score
The Chemotherapy Risk Assessment Scale for High-Age Patients (CRASH) score is a validated tool to predict the risk of severe chemotherapy toxicity in older adults (age ≥70).
Score Components
The CRASH score consists of two separate risk scores:
- Toxicity Risk Score: Predicts risk of severe (grade 4) non-hematological toxicity
- Hematological Risk Score: Predicts risk of severe (grade 4) hematological toxicity
Clinical Utility
The CRASH score helps clinicians:
- Identify older patients at high risk for chemotherapy toxicity
- Make informed decisions about chemotherapy dosing and regimen selection
- Implement appropriate supportive care measures
- Improve patient counseling about treatment risks and benefits
