The Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) is a clinician-rated instrument developed by Overall & Gorham (1962) to quantify the severity of major psychiatric symptoms—especially in psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, but also in mania, severe depression, and mixed presentations. It is commonly used to track symptom change over time and evaluate treatment response.
