The ARISCAT Score (Assess Respiratory Risk in Surgical Patients in Catalonia) is a clinical tool used to predict the risk of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. It considers seven variables: age, preoperative oxygen saturation, respiratory infection in the past month, preoperative anemia, surgical incision site, duration of surgery, and whether the procedure is an emergency. Each factor is assigned a point value, and the total score stratifies patients into low, intermediate, or high risk for PPCs. This score helps clinicians identify at-risk patients and implement preventive strategies to improve surgical outcomes.
